1. In short

  • You can use Dagbalans without an account. Then everything you fill in stays on your own phone or computer, and we never see it.
  • With an account we also keep your diary on our server in the European Union, so you see it on another device and do not lose it.
  • What you fill in says something about your health. We only use it to keep and show your diary, and we share it with nobody.
  • Dagbalans sends nothing to a clinic or care provider. Your diary only goes somewhere when you share it yourself.
  • No ads, no selling of data, no trackers from Google or anyone else.

2. What this statement is about

The website www.dagbalans.nl and the Dagbalans app for Android, together called "Dagbalans" below. You read which data we process, why, how long we keep it and which rights you have.

3. Without an account: everything stays on your device

Your diary (your activities, the times, how heavy they were, the kind of day) and your settings (your name for the diary, your reward sentence, your points limit) are kept in the storage of your browser or of the app on your own device. As long as you do not use an account, none of it reaches us. If you clear your browser's data or remove the app, your diary is gone.

The PDF or Excel file for your therapist is made on your own device. You share it yourself, for example through your own email or WhatsApp. We do not receive it.

4. With an account: the data we keep

  • Account data: your name, your email address and your password (stored only in encrypted form, we cannot read it).
  • Your diary: per activity the day, the start time, the duration, what you did and how heavy it was; per day the kind of day.
  • Your settings: your name for the diary, your reward sentence, whether you keep points, and your points limit.
  • Signing in to the app: when you sign in to the app, we keep which device is signed in (for example "Dagbalans op Android"), when, and a key that keeps the app signed in. We keep that key only in encrypted form.
  • Security: when you sign in and on suspicious attempts, the IP address and the type of browser or device, to recognise abuse.

5. Data about your health

What you fill in on an activity diary shows how your energy goes. That is data about your health, which the law protects extra (Article 9 GDPR). We only keep it when you explicitly consent to that, by creating an account and having your diary kept in it. You can withdraw that consent at any time: end your account (see section 9) and we remove your diary from our server. You can then keep using Dagbalans on your own device.

We only use your diary to keep it, to show it on your other devices and to make a diary sheet from it when you ask. We do not read along, build no profiles from it, do not use it to train software and share it with nobody.

6. Why we process data

  • Keeping your account and your diary: to provide the service you ask for (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), and for the health data with your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a) GDPR).
  • Security and preventing abuse: our legitimate interest in keeping Dagbalans safe (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Visitor statistics: our legitimate interest in seeing how often the website is visited (see section 8).
  • Contact: when you email us, we use your message to answer you.

7. Where your data is and who can see it

Our server is with netcup, in a data centre in Vienna (Austria), so within the European Union. netcup only rents us the server and cannot use your data. Every night we make a backup on our own equipment in the Netherlands. Data always travels over a secure connection (https). Only the administrator of Dagbalans can reach the server, and only looks at data when that is needed to fix a fault or when you ask.

You install the app through Google Play. Google processes data about the installation under Google's own privacy policy. Your diary does not go through Google.

8. Cookies

Dagbalans sets no cookies from Google, social media or advertising networks. It does set these cookies of its own:

Cookie What for How long
Session cookie Keeps you signed in during a visit. Up to one week
Remember me Keeps you signed in between visits, only when you ask for it. 14 days
aika_stats, aika_stats_pv Counts a visit and which pages are viewed. Until you close the browser
aika_visitor Recognises a returning visitor in our own statistics. 6 months

The statistics are our own and go to nobody else. Your IP address is only kept in them in a form that cannot be traced back. The statistics count which pages of the website are viewed, not what you fill in in your diary. The Android app uses no cookies for statistics.

9. How long we keep data

  • Your diary and settings: as long as your account exists. When you remove an activity, we only keep the fact that it was removed, for 30 days, so your other devices learn of it too. After that it is gone completely.
  • Your account: until you end it. Email info@dagbalans.nl from your account's email address. We then remove your account, your diary and your settings within 30 days.
  • Signing in to the app: an app stays signed in for at most 60 days without use. When you sign out, the key expires at once.
  • Backups: a removed diary disappears from the backups when they are replaced, within 30 days.
  • Security logs: 6 months.
  • Email to us: 12 months after the last message.

10. Your rights

You may ask us to:

  • see your data;
  • correct data that is wrong;
  • remove your data;
  • restrict the use of your data, or object to it;
  • hand you your data in a common file format (you can also download your diary as CSV yourself);
  • withdraw your consent.

Email info@dagbalans.nl. We answer within a month. So that we do not give your data to someone else, we may ask you to confirm that the account is yours.

11. Complaints

If you are not happy with how we handle your data, please tell us. You may also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the supervisory authority in your own country.

12. Age

Dagbalans is meant for people aged 16 and over. If you are younger, use it together with a parent or guardian.

13. Changes

When Dagbalans changes, we update this statement. The date below shows when that last happened. For an important change we let you know in the app or by email.
